Invited To Lead A Workshop On The Work Of Artist Jean Michel Basquiat!
As some would know, or would have heard by now now, the influential ‘Radiant Child’ of American Neo expressionism Jean Michel Basquiat had a retrospective at London’s popular Barbican Art Gallery, titled ‘Boom For Real’. A block buster exhibition which proved very popular with the British public. No surprises there. It seems the nation had been starved of anything substantial to do with his work for a long time, so the excitement levels were ‘off the chain’ from the very begining it got announced!
The exhibition at the Barbican run from the 21st Sep 2017 – 28th Jan 2018.
I was asked by PaintJam London to lead their huge workshop. A bit about PaintJam London. Paint Jam creates POP UP art studios in unexpected, secret spaces. Their immersive social art-making experiences feature painting on easels, live DJ, music and drinks – creating a painting workshop and party in one. Check them out here….http://www.paintjamlondon.co.uk
I was then asked by online cultural magazine Ragged Cult to write an article detailing my experience of leading this workshop, my approach and my aim for the 70 people and over in attendance.
